This forum is organised by the CRE in Stroke Rehabilitation and Brain Recovery in collaboration with the Hunter Medical Research Institute, The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health and the University of Newcastle.

The CRE in Stroke Rehabilitation and Brain Recovery aims to support the transformation of the stroke research and practice landscape in Australia by developing new treatments, improving patient selection into clinical trials and advancing rehabilitation research methods. The CRE spans across a number of streams being, basic science, imaging, clinical trials, implementation research and data linkage.

The CRE Newcastle Forum coincides with Medical Research Week and we are fortunate to hear from keynote speakers, Professor Mark Bayley (University of Toronto, Canada) and Dr Peter Thomas (Director, Policy and Operations, AAMRI), attracting a broad audience as they share their expertise in implementation science, the importance of translational research in addition to current and future research policies in Australia.

We will also hear from our CRE Stream Leaders and associated researchers as they share their work and progress in addition to Industry Partners involved in stroke research and practice. We hope to have rewarding discussions as we further explore collaborative opportunities working towards the next phase in the CRE and our goals and outcomes.
